Four Pillars of Kuska Trips
Building future leaders in international development
FAITH
Jesus Christ was the ultimate example of love and service. We believe in the two great commandments: love God and love your neighbor.
Throughout this trip, Kuska travelers will have the opportunity to interact daily with their Peruvian neighbors, forging friendships and learning more about the world through the eyes of another. There will be dedicated time for study of scripture, reflection, and faith-building experiences.
We will spend the weekend with youth from a local stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by participating in a service project alongside peers, playing sports and games, a finishing with a culture exchange and youth dance. On Sunday, we will attend church with the same youth and end the evening with a youth fireside devotional.

CULTURE
Culture is defined by the norms, values, and artifacts of a people. Kuska Travelers will have several intentional opportunities to build their cultural competency.
Teens will experience several elements of culture on the trip, including language (Spanish, Quechua), history, economics, government, education, cuisine, and the arts.

SELF-RELIANCE
Sustainable solutions to the world's largest problems will propel individuals towards self-reliance where they are not dependent on consistent foreign influence.
One of the primary purposes of Kuska Trips is to engage with local micro-entrepreneurs who are already progressing towards a path of self-reliance. In doing so, we seek to open the minds and hearts of Kuska Travelers so they become active learners, knowing how to sustainably support efforts in developing nations and focus on self-reliance in their future leadership roles.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Kuska Trips subscribes to the idea that entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful vehicles for lifting an individual and his/her family out of poverty. Subsequently, as new jobs are created and new services/products become available, the community around the entrepreneur improves.
Kuska Travelers will be placed into teams, paired with an adult trip leader, and matched with a local entrepreneur. They will be micro-interns for the week. Prior to leaving on the trip they will learn of a problem or opportunity facing the business.
During their time in Peru, they will spend hours each day in the business learning about different aspects of business (e.g., marketing, sales, operations, accounting, etc.) with a focus on solving the problem or taking advantage of the opportunity. At the end of the trip, each team will present their findings and recommendations to the entrepreneur.
